Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab : Can be better than iPad 2?

Samsung Galaxy 10.1 Tab stands quite solid in a lightweight chassis with bright and colourful screen display. The Apple iPad may be leading the tablet market but the Samsung is throwing challenge over iPad with its Galaxy Tab 10.1 version.

Lightweight Body
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 weighs only 565g as compared to iPad 2 weighing about 600g. The weight however, does not seems to be far noticeable when held side-by-side. But if compared with heavy Motorola Xoom or Asus Eee Pad Transformer, the difference can be easily felt. Concentrating on the chassis, the iPad 2 is made up of smooth aluminium body which is appreciable over the plastic looking body of the Samsung Tab. However, the Samsung tab still appears pleasant as its waist measures 0.2 mm less than the iPad 2 and it measures 256.7 x 175.3 x 8.6mm.

The screen is further protected with the Gorilla Glass which guards the screen from any marks. The tablet is also embedded with PLS technology that makes the device with the brightest display till now.

Snapper
The tablet boasts its 3.15 mega pixel camera along with auto-focus and LED flash. It feels like Samsung is walking on Apple’s footsteps as there isn’t any button present on the front and there are no other slots such as microSD memory expansion. So now you will have to stick to the onboard memory provided to the device like 16GB, 32 GB and 64 GB.

Android and Processor
Interestingly, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is powered with the latest Android 3.0 Honeycomb running on Dual-core 1GHz ARM Cortex-A9 proccessor. The device will be available in three storage versions like 16/32/64 GB storage with 1 GB RAM. The connectivity options provided are less having just Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and there is no 3G options added to the device.

Sony Ericsson txt Pro: Not for all

Sony Ericsson txt Pro is a mini smartphone with a full-QWERTY slide out keyboard that makes typing easier and faster. The keyboard is quite innovatively created having dedicated friends’ application that can be shared on Facebook and twitter. With this one can easily understand that this phone is especially for text lovers who love to communicate.

Design:
Sony Ericsson Txt Pro appears very small in size featuring a 3-inch scratch resistant capacitive touchscreen with the resolution of just 240 x 400 pixels. But as I started with it, I found that it is not that smooth and easy for tapping and flicking. Might be due to the slow processor inside. The phone also attracts fingerprints when seen from different angles. Moreover, it also collects smudges and finger dirt.
Holding the phone felt like holding a toy as it is made out of plastic material. It comes with 4-row QWERTY keyboard is also small but still person with bigger thumbs will definitely find it difficult to operate. It comes with a 3.15 MP camera with the resolution of 2048x1536 pixels.

Processor and Storage:
The device operates on PNX-4910 processor which is slow and becomes less touchscreen at times less efficient. The txt pro comes with 100 MB of internal memory expandable up to 32 GB along with just 64 MB of RAM.

Overall, the phone is an attractive compact phone with a nice slide-Out QWERTY keyboard which is quite solid to slide. But still it features some weak points and thus is suitable to all.

7 Ways to Improve Android Battery Life

To be honest, Android phones are really hard to stand all day long. You should find yourself lucky it your Android phone battery lives for a day. Then in order to keep your smartphone alive the whole day long, you start deactivating all the features that makes your phone intelligent and stylish.

So what exactly we should do in order to make the Android battery live longer?? Well, you should feel happy reading these 7 Android battery saving solutions along with great tips which will definitely bring the difference and will add few more hours to the battery life.

Close-off status update
Now I do not say that not to use the Android features but there is no need to look for the latest updates on emails or tweets after every two minutes. You can simply reduce the frequency of notification that gets updated after every minute, so that at night when you are left with this saved battery life minutes. You can tweet at bed-time.

Shut-off auto-sync
If you have no problem living without Gmail and Google calendar, then it is better to turn off the auto-sync altogether but make sure that you manually sync your contacts once in a while.

Turn off GPS
GPS is a powerful power drainer which is not even required all the time. You will definitely observe a considerable improvement in the battery life.

Set a Wi-Fi timeout
Now this is highly useful to set a time-out for Wi-Fi connectivity. For this you need to go to ‘Advanced’ Wi-Fi management screen in Android by navigating Menu button then going to ‘Wi-Fi’ setting. This is a biggest reason for draining up of the android battery lilfe.

Gothic wallpaper
Try to make the home screen background not so vibrant and try to make it dark and dull as particularly OLED versions use more energy with brighter and white colours.

Don't drain the battery
This old advice of completely discharging the battery does not work any more with modern lithium-ion batteries. In fact perform better if you regularly charge them and keep them topped up.

Purchase an in-car charger
Last but still very important, you must have an in-car charger that remains inside the car along with a spare battery.

LG Optimus 3D - Not For Everyone

As LG Optimus 2X and LG Optimus Black were announced in the Mobile World Congress, LG Optimus 3D features 4.3 inches display and dual-core processor which is quite powerful to handle 3D video recording, fast web browsing and gaming. However, LG Optimus 3D is the first smartphone to display 3D technology. But all over how’s LG Optimus 3D phone as a 3D phone.

Frankly speaking, I am not that impressed. 3D is now growing in other categories as well such as TVs and cameras. Thankfully for this phone you need not to wear 3D special glasses to see up to 720p video on the LG Optimus 3D. But the felt the effect was quite disappointing as the images do not pop-out as in 3D effect it happens making the quality a bit odd.

One thing that put me off completely was repeatedly crashing of the phone while having hands-on the device. When I tried to open an app, 3D gallery for instance, the phone would completely freeze. However, I tried to use another phone, but that one wouldn't even turn on.

LG Optimus 3D packs a wide 4.2 inches capacitive touchscreen equipped with dual camera of 5 mega pixels each with the pixel density of 2560Ñ…1920 pixels each to give that 3D effect. The handset is installed with Android OS, v2.2 (Froyo) and that it will not arrive with the latest version of Android called Gingerbread, which is again disappointing. It also lacks 4G technology.

Choose The Best Dual-Core Smartphone

There has been a vast evolution in the mobile phone industries over the past few years. For instance, a single core processor running on 1 GHz speed was enough for the smartphone. But now with time and the arrival of the new generation, speeding up the clock-speed further is not enough. It’s an era of dual core CPU’s to give outstanding performance and speed.
Now all the latest smartphones are going dual-core with the enhanced capability of multitasking as well as videoing, the two vital features of the phone. Today smartphones are imitating almost all the PC’s functionality and with that it needs a lot of parallel processing power.

From the current yield of smartphones we have updated a list dual-core smartphones from which you can decide which smartphone will work best for you.

1. Samsung Galaxy S2 : As we came across Samsung Galaxy S2, we decided at first that this phone is going to be in the limelight for long because of its great specs and features. Few months later we also heard about boosting speed from 1GHz to 1.2GHz along with 1 GB of RAM. On moving our mitts over the phone, we concluded that it is as fast as we were hoping.

Specs: 1GB RAM, 16GB storage, 4.3-inch 480 x 800 Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen, 8 MP camera, 1.2GHz dual-core processor.

2. LG Optimus 2X: LG Optimus 2X was crowned for being the first dual-core processor released by Guinness World Record. The device is powered by 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 system-on-a-chip and sporting 512MB of RAM. However, Galaxy S2 beats Optimus 2X both with its features and in real life.

Specs: 512MB RAM, 1GHz dual-core processor, 8 MP camera, 4-inch 480 x 800 LCD touchscreen, 8GB storage.

3. HTC Sensation: HTC Sensation is powered with 1.2GHz CPU speed that is same as that of Galaxy S2 but the Sensation comes with Qualcomm's MSM 8260 Snapdragon, paired with an Adreno 220 GPU. Now the inclusion of Qualcomm it also features latest version of HTC Sense to give that 3D effect.

Apart fro this Motorola Atrix is unique as it can be used in its Webtop mode giving a laptop feeling when connected via HDMI cable.

LG Optimus 2X wins Guinness World Record

I would bet that we all at some point have gone through the much lauded Guinness Book of World records and know what it is all about. It’s a book packed with plethora of records for all sorts of things. I have an overwhelmed feeling while saying that LG Optimus 2X smartphone has finally landed itself in the record book. Yes, the smartphone wins this award for being the first mobile phone to use a dual core processor.

So, I was rather enthusiastic and impressed when I came to know that as according to the Guinness World Record, LG Optimus 2X has crowned world’s first ever dual-core processor smartphone.

Although, they mean the first ever commercially released phone, as I know are other dual-core devices as well under development before this. But this was the first and has a record to prove it.

Features:

LG Optimus 2X features a 4-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It also comes with a brilliant 8 mega-pixel camera with a pixel density of 3264x2448 pixels. Other features includes on-board memory of 8 GB, 512 MB RAM, A-GPS support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE and lots more. LG Optimus 2X is embedded with Android 2.2 Froyo running on dual core 1GHz processor.

Is LG Optimus 2X is the Best???

Frankly speaking, the smartphone needs a lot of help as it is not the best. For instance there is Samsung Galaxy S II which is available and it is mind blowing. Further LG Optimus 2X has lot of competition to face with HTC Sensation which is on the way that not only has a dual core processor but also comes with madly high resolution that already has my mouth watering.

Google Nexus S or HTC Incredible S : Which one best for you??

If you looking into buying a new droid phone and feel yourself stuck choosing between these two fine models HTC Incredible S and Google Nexus S, then this blog will certainly help in finding what exactly you want. Both handsets have different features depending upon your area of interest. However there will not be any of the compromise in either of the smartphones in terms of speed and efficiency.

Comparision

Let’s have a look on both handsets’ features and help those desperate users who are confused to choose between Google Nexus S and HTC Incredible S.

First Look:

Looking at the dimensions of the two smartphones, I noticed Google Nexus S is taller and a bit narrower, thinner and lighter as compared to Incredible S. It features a 4.0 inch wide super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen whereas HTC Incredible S though features the same 4.0 inches wide touchscreen, it still looks more attractive than Nexus S. Google Nexus S does look like a very compact handset in the palm of the hand but does not impress us with its very rounded features, which almost resemble a bar of soap. The Nexus S features an oleophobic surface designed to repel oily fingerprints, and a contoured display with a curved glass screen, as well as multi-touch.
The display features are almost same for both except the presence of capacitive buttons on Incredible S and contoured screen of the Nexus S.

Technology:

HTC Incredible S and Nexus S both run with 1 GHz Scorpion processor, Incredible S operates on an older version of Android 2.2 Froyo. The Nexus S is powered with the latest version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread that makes the device one step ahead of Incredible S. However, Nexus S lacks microSD card slot as compared to HTC Incredible S.

Processor:

HTC Incredible S runs on 1 GHz Scorpion processor, Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset. The Google Nexus S also has 1GHz ARM Cortex-A8 processor. Both the Qualcomm Snapdragon and ARM Cortex are powerful setups for these phones. This means neither of the two lacks in processing media, apps and games efficiently.

Camera:

On the positive side, HTC Incredible S features a brilliant 8 mega-pixel which captures at 3264 x 2448 resolution. This is area where the Incredible completely stands out. Google Nexus S is built with a 5 mega pixel camera with a resolution of 2560 x 1920 pixels.

Looking at the price, then HTC Incredible S is slightly cheaper than Google Nexus S.

HTC Incredible S Vs HTC Desire HD : The decisive battle

The HTC Incredible S is a smartphone with innovative appearance having loads of features embedded inside it. It features a large 4-inch touchscreen with unique rubberized back cover. The handset supports an 8 mega-pixel camera with dual LED photo lights. We are not big fans of LED lights as it tends to emit a very bright and harsh light which is quite hard to bear. It has got a well designed widgets which on the other side compensated with an older version of Android that brings problem and speed degradation.

I also got chance to move my hands on the HTC Desire HD. At the first look, it appeared very bulky and huge to me. But as I further analyzed the handset, it appeared an ultimate phone with fast and responsive touchscreen. The handset comes with 8 mega pixel camera with again dual LED flash. The machined aluminium case feels wonderfully solid but looks too massive in hand. The social networking integration on Desire HD is awesome with impressing fast web browsing.

HTC Incredible S Vs HTC Desire HD

Despite of few features in common such as dual LED flash, the same 8 mega-pixel camera, the RAM amount (768 MB) along with the same processor and Android 2.3 Gingerbread, I noticed many dissimilar features in HTC Incredible S and HTC Desire HD.

If HTC Incredible S has slighlty bigger battery of 1450mAh, a 1.3 mega pixel camera for video conferencing and weighs less as compared to HTC Desire HD, then HTC Desire HD also flaunts its larger 4.3 inches touchscreen, good standby time and more of on-board memory of 1.5 GB. Front facing camera is absent in Desire HD.

Price Comparison

the HTC Incredible S costs £500 SIM Free, £449.95 on PAYG and as little as £25 per month on a two year contract (Vodafone, 300 minutes, unlimited texts, no web data).

In comparison, the HTC Desire HD costs a mere £384.58 at Amazon and as little as £20.42 on a two year contract (100 minutes, unlimited text and 250MB data from Orange) or £35 per month on a one year contract (with an initial fee of £59, with 300 minutes, unlimited text messages, 500MB data allowance). So, would you pay £115 more for a front facing camera and a smaller device??

Motorola Atrix: Highly Impressive and Responsive

We say that today’s smartphones are becoming as powerful as full-fledged laptops, but Motorola Atrix is the only smartphone that clears the test for being a true mini laptop inside your pocket. Motorola Atrix comes in a sleek and decent black colour that appears slightly like Motorola Defy.

Technology:

Motorola Atrix will be loaded with Android 2.2 Froyo initially, the later updation to Android 2.3 Gingerbread is already under progress. Motorola Atrix is an amazing smartphone that boasts its powerful dual core 1GHz processor. It comes with 1GB RAM which is also comparatively double than other smartphones coming these days. The handset features some of truly unique features like syncing your address book to your Google account and displaying live widgets on the home screen. An external memory is also added via a microSD card slot expandable up to 32 GB.

Unique Features:

Feature that makes Motorola Atrix stand out of the crowd is its biometric fingerprint reader on the top that provides you with an option to simply swipe the screen with your finger rather than typing password on the screen. Looking more into the Motorola Atrix, it features a 4-inch TFT capacitive Gorilla glass display with a high screen resolution of 960x540-pixels.

Motorola Atrix is more than just a phone as it will also bring plethora of accessories that will enhance its features even further. It has got a multimedia dock that enables you to connect your handset with a T.V. There are multiple connectors available in the handsets that let you connect your mouse, keyboard and speakers making it a complete PC. That’s not all, Motorola Atrix can also be connected with a laptop as well.

In all, Motorola Atrix is pretty smooth and responsive. The Apps also appears to be loaded faster within the blink of the eyes. We will discover more when arrive in the UK market in May 2011. However, the first impression is quite impressive.
